Ecology
Owlbears are a cross between Owls and Bears, two fearsome predators. Combining the cunning of the Owl and Strength of the Bear.
Owlbear’s have excellent eye sight capable of seeing very well at distance even at night, but they see rather poorly within the 5ft range. At that range they rely on whisker like feathers and excellent hearing abilities.
Like bears and owls, they are excellent climbers and occasionally perch on tall trees to search out prey. It is also not unusual for younger specimens to ambush from above hiding in the foliage of lush trees in summer.
Unlike bears, during early summer, females and young will flock together in what are called Parliaments of anywhere from 3 to 10 individuals, in order to hunt larger prey like drakes and find mates. Also young males will collaborate in pairs or trios until they reach mating age.
