Was reading the following link about people reacting to the release of 5e DnD, and got me thinking about my own rediscovery of DnD
Followed the link, I am not super impressed by the data, because there is a lot of nuance that is being missed. However reading the threads and conversations going on it’s super interesting to read what people were thinking when 5e came out.

I personally was on a DnD hiatus between 2008 and 2017. We had been playing 3.5e up until our group sort of disbanded when people moved, I got married, our other DM moved to the countryside, etc…
Did buy some 4e, played and DMed a few oneshot sessions when I was able to get together with friends, but it was not on my priority list to play frequently or run a campaign.
Eventually my new year resolution for 2016 was to get back into to hobby so learned that DnD was still kicking, there was a 5e, and started attending Adventurers League at a game store nearby.
